Memories are important. Memories can keep us going when nothing else will. Memories lurk everywhere. Furniture harbors many memories too. The rocking chair where your mother sat with you to settle you down, and not only as a baby.
The chair your grandfather sat in for prayers around the table at night. A small kid’s riempie chair that reminds you of a much more carefree time in your life. Preserve those memories, and have them restored.
Yes, those white or raw riempies are still available. The rattan too. You can but them from me and do it yourself for an even bigger heart-felt experience, or bring them to me and I will replace the riempies, or restore the full chair for you. Once done, it will feel as if you gave something back to the person who left you with the memory. It is well worth the expense.
You can relive those happy family dinners. Riempie seats, with standard White riempie, starts at R300, but as seats vary in size, the price varies too. Same with those rattan kitchen and dining chairs, and old ball-and-claw lounge suites with the weathered and tattered rattan – it is expensive, no doubt, but it is also very much worth repairing it.

Wood like Imbuia is incredibly rare and expensive, so the funriture is also very valuable and well worth restoring. It’s a fact. It is better (not necessarily cheaper) to repair old furniture because it simply is better built than the new stuff. You owe it to that old chair sitting in the store room, or hanging from the roof. You owe it to yourself – memories are good for the soul. It keeps us going.
